Aerodynamic Design Features

Blended Winglets
The system features patented* High Aspect Ratio Blended Winglets. This winglet geometry is selected to achieve near ideal flow characteristics, particularly in the interface between wing and winglet.

Wing Span Increase
The system features an actual four foot overall wingspan increase. With added wingspan in combination with the Blended Winglets, the airplane climbs higher and faster and flies further than the standard Hawker 800 series aircraft.

Removal of Hawker 800 Wing Fences†
The program includes removal of the large fences from the wing and replacement with vortilons thereby reducing drag, preserving favorable low speed performance, and resulting in a very clean look.

Hawker 800 Vortilons†
Features two vortilons on each wing that improve the low speed handling characteristics of the airplane. The new vortilons are very small (2 in. high) and are placed chordwise just under the leading edge of the wing. Vortilons effectively control span-wise airflows.

Design and Construction
The construction of the Hawker winglet features modern composite graphite skin and full-depth bonded honeycomb core with integrally bonded attachment fittings. The leading edge is polished aluminum. Total incremental installed weight of the Performance Enhancement System is less than 112 lbs. for the Hawker 800 and 118 lbs. for the 800XP.

Maintenance
The Blended Winglet Performance Enhancement System requires only minimal additional maintenance beyond the normal routine maintenance required for the Hawker 800 series aircraft.

LED LIGHTS
The Hawker 800 series aircraft when equipped with Blended Winglets also includes new state of the art position lights. Benefits include:

  • Long life - Light emitting diodes last much longer than incandescent or halogen bulbs
  • Operate at lower temperatures than incandescent or halogen bulbs
  • Brighter than original OEM lights
  • Provide a light distribution with better coverage than the original
  • No additional current draw over the original lights
